Day 25 - Bum Marketing Adventure

Wow. Just...wow.

I wake up this morning (ok, afternoon, I'm a night owl) and check my stats like I usually do. My Clickbank account had 60 bucks in it for the day already! I had made 60 bucks in my sleep. At that point, I thought to myself, "So that's what success feels like." I know my adventure is just getting started and I'm going to see plenty of setbacks along the way, but at that point, I felt like I had really accomplished something. It's the most proud I've ever been of myself. I know, seems like an overreaction for 60 bucks right? It's not the money that I'm proud of, it's the fact that I put my mind to something and did it. I usually give up quickly on projects when they don't pan out.

It didn't stop there though, by the end of the day I had made almost 130 dollars! H-O-L-Y C-R-A-P! My first triple digit day.

Apparently sales really are streaky...I have day totals of 50 bucks, 25 bucks, 0, 0, 15...and then 130? I'm not complaining, but what the heck?

The biggest thing worrying me is what I wrote about last time. I'm almost positive these pages will lose rank and there goes all my sales. While I always can make more pages (and will continue to) I'd like to see successful pages stay in front for as long as possible. I'm really not sure what to do about that. Backlinks are the obvious solution, but that's easier said than done. Most of the pages are decent enough for the search terms, but not good enough to where I'm going to get many quality sites to want to link to them. I looked into article submitters today, but I'm not sure that's the answer either. So I'm stumped as to how to solve the "dropping page" problem. That's going to kill my ability to ever really get my sales going. If I'm constantly making new pages just to replace the old ones, that isn't efficient at all and my sales will never increase, they'll only stay the same.

I'm patiently eying one particular program that's going to be released soon with a lot of interest, as it might help me with the problem I was just talking about (that's right Ruck, I'm looking at you!).

On a completely unrelated topic, why do a lot of these affiliate programs insist on making me use some completely random 8 character sequence as my password? First off, nobody can remember that. "Let's see, my password...password...password, OH! That's right, it's 8c45tg2q. Flows right off the tongue." Secondly, 8 random alphanumeric characters is NOT a strong password. I can guarantee my 11 character password is much, much stronger (it even has symbols) and I can remember it.

Oh, I almost forgot, lol. What did I do today? A lot of research mainly, I was really trying to figure out the dropping page problem. Unfortunately, I didn't come up with much. I did write about 4 articles though. Also, I started working on a real website. It won't be done for awhile, but I want to get a big project going. I'd like some experience in managing a real website, I've never done it before. And, if it's as good as I hope, it'll be a steady stream of income.

I'm almost laughing at the fact that my goal was to be up to $10 bucks a day by the end of summer.
